A true story about a self-made entrepreneur who made it in the real world after her many struggles. Joy had the potential to be a mind-blowing movie. In some scenes, it lives up to that but on the contrary, trying too hard makes it a disappointing affair as an overall package.
Highs: The motion of the story is wonderfully crafted. The real-life struggles of Joy Mangano are beautifully portrayed and seeing that on-screen is a pleasure. The ending is also tremendously gratifying.
Lows: Screenplay suffers from lack of pace, boredom, complexity, and overall acting even with the star-studded cast. Except for the ending the movie fails to produce that 'Joy' vibe that it's named after.
