War movies are technical and tricky. They are either very good or very bad. What most war movies get wrong is they try to do too much. Dunkirk gets that part right by keeping things focused on events of one single day. It brings a lot of things together and produces powerful emotional scenes. At times the film is sad and dark in terms of presentation which can make your heart feel gloomy.
Highs: Strong script and casting nailed to perfection. Every actor works as a unit and comes together to achieve glory. Technical scenes are top-notch and audio is also of the highest quality. Every scene has been shot to produce the very best and its evident on screen.
Lows: Atmosphere is vague and shaded and that thwarts the thrill of the film. Couple scenes are forgettable by being too unfathomable.
