A confusing film that is oblivious of the information if it's classy or trashy. To be fair to the film making process this movie tries to be entertaining and produces some memorable moments but when the script lacks caliber it can only go so far. Fails to captivate the audience and hunch for dullness. 'The Rum Diary' is a boozy comedy-drama that you should watch with warnings of 'not very enjoyable' tagline written all over it.
Highs: Some original comic moments that is genuine and bonafide. Lead actress, Amber Heard's visual appeal is a treat to sore eyes.
Lows: Acting does not impress from the entire cast including the immensely talented Johnny Depp. The movie lacks punch, pace, conviction, and above all a decent presentation.
