Dark Waters

Review: Dark Waters | Redbrick Film

Movies about serious real-life issues can be a hit or a miss. 'Dark Waters' is a bit of both. Incredible loyalty to the true story about one mans lifelong struggles against a giant corporation's fudging business. The struggles are portrayed with such honesty and humility that you feel and live those moments with the man played by a spectacularly subtle Mark Ruffalo. After an awe-inspiring first half, the movie tries to do too much and gets confused about what to do and becomes more of a documentary than a movie.

Highs: Career-high performance by the entire lead. Strong resemblance to the truthfulness of the story. Passion and emotional descriptions are sublime.

Lows: The second half tries to overcome too much and script writings fatal flaws start showing up. Overlooks the fundamentals of the movie and forgets about the audience's contentment.

Rating: 3 ***
